Addressing Alcohol & Drug Impact in the Workplace

Alcohol and drug use can affect health, attendance, productivity and team dynamics. At Murray’s Initiative, we partner with organisations to respond to these issues with confidence and compassion.

Our tailored support helps you:

  • Reduce sickness and absence related to alcohol or drug use

  • Raise awareness across your workforce through engaging, practical training

  • Equip managers and leaders to recognise when someone may need support—and take the right steps

With over 60 years of experience, we are here to help you create a safer, healthier and more supportive workplace.

  • We offer engaging, interactive training designed to support staff at every level of your organisation.

    Our courses include:

    • General awareness workshops for all employees, aimed at increasing understanding of the impact of alcohol and drugs in the workplace

    • Specialist training for managers and team leaders, focused on recognising early signs of alcohol or drug use and handling sensitive conversations with confidence and compassion

Our training helps create more informed, supportive and resilient workplace environments — equipping teams to respond effectively and appropriately.

  • Employers can refer staff directly to our confidential counselling and group support programmes. Each employee begins with a comprehensive assessment of their alcohol use and related behaviours, followed by a series of goal-focused counselling sessions tailored to their individual needs.

Progress is regularly reviewed to ensure the support remains effective and relevant. Where appropriate and with the employee’s consent, we can provide attendance and progress reports to the employer — supporting a joined-up approach to wellbeing in the workplace.
