The Scottish Alcohol Counselling Consortium (SACC), of which we are a member, has today published an open letter in response to the recently released Alcohol-Specific Deaths 2024 statistics from National Records of Scotland.
The letter outlines the growing concern about the ongoing scale of alcohol harm in Scotland and the need for alcohol to be treated as a distinct and urgent national priority. SACC believes alcohol must be front and centre of national policy, with a dedicated national alcohol strategy that recognises the distinct nature of alcohol harm and the need for specific, targeted responses.
SACC is calling on the Scottish Government and national partners to take bold, evidence-led action and show strong leadership in the face of a national alcohol emergency.
